In a Thursday release, the Ark., retailer (NYSE: WMT) said that it will hire management pharmacists, human resource managers, customeer service associates, cashiers and sales associates, among Wal-Mart spokesman Bill Wertz said in an intervieqw thathe doesn’t have an estimatwe of the number of jobs to be added in Kansase and Missouri. “We certainly hope to grow throughoutrthe country, and we hope that will includde those two states,” he The company said in the releasse that it will add about 1,30p0 jobs in Arizona, 1,000 in California, 1,300 in 1,500 in Michigan, 1,200 in New Jersey, 1,00 in South Carolina, 1,200 in Utah and 1,100 in Virginia.
“Duringv this difficult economic time, we’re prousd to be able to create quality jobs for thousands of Americansthis year,” Vice Chairman Eduardo Castro-Wrighrt said in the release. Wal-Mart owns more than 7,90o retail units under 55 different banners in 15 It posted fiscal 2009 salesxof $401 billion and employs more than 2.1 milliob people worldwide.
