The additions give Saul Ewing 19 lawyeresin Wilmington, where bankruptcies have taken off during the economic downturn. A large percentage of companies from around the country file for Chapte r 11 protectionin Delaware. But because Delaware only has abouy 2,000 lawyers and has a strong set of indigenousslaw firms, the Wilmington market has been a toughg one to crack for outsiders, even neighboring Philadelphia Among Philadelphia firms, Pepper Hamiltob and Fox Rothschild have 17 Drinker Biddle & Reath has 15 and Blanlk Rome has 13. Saul Ewing said Manning will serveas co-managinfg partner of the office with currenft office managing partner and real estate lawyer Wendie Stabler.
