The project, firsr announced in 2004, died in 2007 when a groundr lease between SIU and WLS expired followinhg extensions forthe project. SIUE filed a declaratoruy judgment action Monday inMadison County, seeking to have the court brinhg legal closure to its hotel conference center project.
If WLS would have to remove all construction equipmenyt and materials and remove the building foundation it constructefd to comply with the terms ofthe lease, Conroyg said. That would free up the site, located at Illinoizs Route 157 and UniversityPark Drive, to become available for leasew and development, the university said. University Park currentlh has 23 tenants representing a number of business sectors includinagricultural biotechnology, health sciences, designb professionals and information technology.
