At a press conference, executives said the railroad will be constructed on 316 acres in theMcCalla area, acros s the Norfolk Southern rail line from the Jefferson Metropolitan industrialo park. The company estimates the intermodal facility will creatde orbenefit 8,600 jobs and have a 10-yearr cumulative economic impact of more than $4 billion, similar to the $3.65 billiohn Norfolk Southern said it’s had in the area over the past 10 Construction is slated to start at the beginning of with a target opening of 2012. No statd or county money will be sought by the railroac forthe facility.
